Propaganda Posters

What is propaganda?

Propaganda is information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc. Propaganda posters are usually used to persuade or change the way of thinking of people. By studying the history of propaganda posters, we can learn how people think and react back then. We can compare what we think to what the Russians believed in 1917.

The message of this picture is that Lenin would spread food and jobs for everyone. The poster is trying to make people think that everyone would have food and jobs. The artist conveys the message by drawing Lenin holding a bucket with one hand and giving out some sort of food with the other hand. The artist also draws trucks harvesting the crops.

The message of this picture is to choose Lenin and join the Bolsheviks. It is trying to make the people think that Lenin is smart and looks like a leader. The artist conveys the message by drawing some sort of microphone. It means that Lenin is loud and is making a big voice. The red background makes Lenin look vicious and powerful.

The message of this propaganda poster is to show how smart and sharp Lenin was. It was trying to make people think that Lenin looks like a good leader for Russia. The artist was using very formal colors. The artist drew the sunlight reflecting from Lenin's bald head to show that he is bright. The artist also used a dark background, but than made Lenin bright to stand out.

Conclusion: I think Russian people back then were easily brainwashed and the use of colors were very effective. For me now a days i think the posters are very simple and boring. Back than propaganda posters might be as interesting to the Russians like when we are watching commercials on TV now a days.
